Use Your Talents: Other Arts Ministries
Keyboard, Guitar, Bass, Drums
Playing keyboard (piano, synth, organ), guitar, bass or drums at Parkwood is an opportunity as a steward for using one's God-given talents. Musicians are on a rotational schedule and rehearse Sundays at 8:50 AM and Thursdays at 5:30 PM. Music is supplied for services, such as hymns, choruses, accompaniment music (for soloists, ensembles, choir), and chord charts. A reasonable level of proficiency is needed. If you are interested, please contact the Music Office at 519-948-7055 ext. 246.
Throughout the bible we see the arts used as a doxology, bringing praise to God while speaking to the soul of man. Yet we tend to value verbal over the visual. At Parkwood, we desire to recover vision for Visual Arts (painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, video, etc.) in the church. During the church season, we give opportunity for Parkwoodites for expression in these areas, whether via displays in our artist display case across from the main office, or at special exhibits tied into productions or special events. For more information, contact the music office.
Dance is a language in the bible used to express celebration, proclamation and worship. It is a means of communication of emotions, thoughts and belief through movement. Dance is incorporated at times in Parkwood's Sunday Service as well as our productions. Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 - 9 PM (seasonal). For more information on this growing area of ministry, contact Shannon Tortorici or the Music Office.
Parkwood Pathway is an ongoing project on our church property. We are creating a pathway through our woodlot for the purpose of exercise, refreshment, reflection and interactive staged narratives (dramas, children's activities, etc.).
"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." - 1 Pet. 4:10
